KAU Secures DGCA Approval for Drone Pilot Training Centre
The Kerala Agricultural University (KAU) has achieved a significant milestone with the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) granting approval for the establishment of a Drone Pilot Training Centre at the KAU Agribusiness Incubator (KAU-ABI), College of Agriculture, Vellanikkara.
KAU has received DGCA approval for a Remote Pilot Training Organisation (RPTO) at KAU-RABI, Vellanikkara — an initiative integrating drone technology with agricultural research and practice. The centre, funded by NABARD and established with Modha Aero Academy, will empower farmers, startups, and agri-entrepreneurs with precision farming skills and drone-based solutions for sustainable agriculture
"കർഷകനിൽ നിന്ന് സംരംഭകനിലേക്ക്" – പത്തനംതിട്ട ജില്ലയിലെ റാന്നി അത്തിക്കയം സ്വദേശി ശ്രീ കെ എസ് ജോസഫ്, സഹോദരൻ കെ.എസ്. ആന്റണിയോടൊപ്പം 2017-ൽ 200 മൂടില് തുടങ്ങിയ ഡ്രാഗൺ ഫ്രൂട്ട് കൃഷി ഇന്ന് 10 ഏക്കറിലേക്കൂ വളര്ന്നു നില്ക്കുകയാണ്. ജെ ജേ ഗാർഡൻസ് എന്ന പേരിൽ മൊത്തവ്യാപാരത്തിലും കയറ്റുമതിയിലും ചുവടുറപ്പിച്ചു കഴിഞ്ഞ അദ്ദേഹം ഇപ്പോൾ മൂല്യവർധിത ഉൽപ്പന്നങ്ങളുടെ ലോകത്തേക്കും പ്രവേശിക്കുകയാണ്.
The JRF toppers of 2025 were felicitated on 26 September 2025 at the College of Agriculture, Vellayani. The Dean of Faculty, Dr. Jacob John, distributed certificates to 26 students who secured ranks below 100 in the national examination.
As part of the observance of Kerala Agricultural University (KAU) Technology Day, a special program was organized at the farm of Shri Sirajudeen in Madavoor Grama Panchayat.
The program was inaugurated by Shri M. Biju Kumar, President, Madavoor Grama Panchayat. Smt. Sujeena Maktoom, Ward Member, presided over the function. The welcome address was delivered by the Agricultural Officer, followed by congratulations from Smt. Sabitha SR, Assistant Director of Agriculture.
KAU with farmers
College of Agriculture, Padannakkad, in association with the Central Training Institute, Mannuthy, organized a three-day hands-on training program on “Internet of Things (IoT) in Agriculture” for college students. Eighteen students actively participated in the training.
The sessions provided insights into the fundamentals of IoT and its applications in agriculture with hands-on experience, handled by Mrs. I. L. Shahana and Mr. R. S. Sreejith, Assistant Professors of Computer Science at College of Agriculture, Padannakkad.

പടന്നക്കാട് കാർഷിക കോളേജിലെ ഈ വർഷത്തെ വായനാവാരാഘോഷം പ്രശസ്ത സാഹിത്യകാരൻ ശ്രീ. അംബികാസുതൻ മാങ്ങാട് ഉദ്ഘാടനം ചെയ്തു. വായന മനുഷ്യനെ മനുഷ്യനാക്കുന്നു എന്നും പല സാഹചര്യങ്ങളെയും തരണം ചെയ്യാൻ അത് അവനെ പ്രാപ്തനാക്കുന്നു എന്നും അദ്ദേഹം പറഞ്ഞു. കാർഷിക കോളേജ് ഡീൻ ഡോ.ടി.സജിതാറാണി അദ്ധ്യക്ഷത വഹിച്ച ചടങ്ങിന് അസിസ്റ്റൻ്റ് ലൈബ്രേറിയൻ ഡോ.വി.പി.അജിതകുമാരി സ്വാഗതം പറഞ്ഞു. ഡോ.നിധീഷ്.പി, ശ്രീ.പി.കെ.ദീപേഷ്, ശ്രീ. ശ്രീനാഥ് ആർ.നായർ എന്നിവർ ആശംസകൾ നേർന്നു. കുമാരി സ്നേഹ എസ് നന്ദി പറഞ്ഞു. വിദ്യാർത്ഥികളും, അദ്ധ്യാപകരും അനദ്ധ്യാപകരും പങ്കെടുത്ത ചടങ്ങിൽ കവിതാലാപനം, പുസ്തകാസ്വാദനം എന്നിവയും ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു.
78.23 ഹെക്ടർ ഉദ്യാനഭൂമിയും 173.50 ഹെക്ടർ കായൽ ഭൂമിയും ഉൾപ്പെടെ 253 ഹെക്ടർ വിസ്തൃതിയുള്ള വെള്ളായണി കാർഷിക കോളേജ് ക്യാമ്പസ്സിൽ പ്രകൃതിദത്ത സസ്യജന്തുജാലങ്ങളെ സംരക്ഷിച്ചുകൊണ്ട് ജൈവവൈവിധ്യ സംരക്ഷണത്തിനായി ഒട്ടനവധി പ്രവർത്തനങ്ങളാണ് നടത്തിവരുന്നത്. കല്ലിയൂർ ഗ്രാമപഞ്ചായത്തിന്റെ 'എ' ഗ്രേഡ് ലഭിച്ച ഗ്രീൻ പ്രോട്ടോക്കോൾ പാലിക്കുന്ന സ്ഥാപനമാണ് വെള്ളായണി കാർഷിക കോളേജ്. ജലസംഭരണം, സോളാർ പാനൽ ഇൻസ്റ്റലേഷനുകൾ, മാലിന്യ വസ്തുക്കളുടെ കമ്പോസ്റ്റിംഗ് എന്നിവയിലൂടെ ലഭ്യമായ എല്ലാ വിഭവങ്ങളുടെയും സുസ്ഥിര ഉപയോഗം ഈ സ്റ്റേഷൻ ഉറപ്പാക്കുന്നു.
The College of Agriculture, Vellayani has been awarded the ISO 21001:2018 certification by TÜV India (TÜV NORD Group), accredited by the National Accreditation Board for Certification Bodies (NABCB) under the Quality Council of India (QCI). This certification confirms the adherence to international standards for Educational Organizations Management Systems (EOMS), ensuring a structured framework focused on learner satisfaction, continuous improvement, and institutional accountability.
